• Easy Tips to Freshen Up Your Home

  • It’s been a long, long winter and we can bet your home is ready for a fresh start. Here a few tips to get you started on your spring cleaning mission…maybe tackle a few each day?

    The Fridge

The best fridge cleaning solution is a combination of salt and soda water. The abrasive texture of salt combined with the bubbling action of soda water makes for an excellent  all-natural cleaner.

    The Windows

It’s been a long winter of rain and snow, so this is the perfect time to clean those windows. One of the best ways to clean your screens is with a scrap of carpet. It makes a powerful brush that removes dirt very effectively. For your windows, all you need is a towel and some soapy water. Once cleaned, dry them with another towel. A squeegee will also work well.

    The Microwave

Freshen up this highly used appliance by heating lemon juice and the rinds in water. The trapped steam will loosen grime so you can easily wipe the microwave clean. Cut the lemons in half, squeeze the juice into a half cup of water, and drop the rinds into the mixture. Cook for three minutes and let stand for five without opening the door.

    The Stovetop

Bet you’ve never heard of this one! Stubborn grease on your stovetop? Place a wet dryer sheet on your ceramic stovetop for 15 minutes to remove residue. Then just wipe off!

    The Furniture

It’s important to know your upholstery before cleaning it. Get familiar with these cleaning codes so you know what to use.

    W: Use water-based solutions.

S: Use dry-cleaning solvents. Do not saturate or use water.

    S-W: Use water-based cleaners or dry-cleaning solvents.

X: Use a vacuum or brush only.

As you vacuum your furniture, spring is the perfect time to flip couches and chairs over and vacuum underneath.
